Pergamum was an early regional capital in the Roman empire. It housed the second largest library in the world, temples to Trajan, Athena and Dionysis, as well as an altar to Zeus and a large amphitheater. It is among the best restored ruins in Turkey.
Students, faculty and alumni from Palm Beach Atlantic University are in Istanbul, Turkey for a tour of historical sites May 14 – May 25, 2009. They are on Honors Study Travel program.
